Patent for Sale:Instant Secure Communication Initiation and Provisioning for Mobile Devices
2D bar codes are quickly gaining traction as enablers for online content sharing and services. 2D bar codes provide encoded information, such as a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). To obtain information about an object with a 2D bar code, a user uses an electronic device equipped with a camera and a bar code reader software. The camera scans the image of the 2D bar code, and the bar code reader software decodes the scanned 2D bar code to obtain the encoded information. For example, a user scans a URL and the bar code read software spawns the Web browser to load the website pointed by the URL.
This unique technology not only overcomes the limitations of 2D bar code that is based on static visual digital information having limited capacity, capability, and security but also provides a novel data protocol for secure data communication between electronic devices, for example, smart-phones.
The invention provides direct line-of-sight visual digital communication between mobile devices for controlled security. It provides direct contact motion-based digital communication between mobile devices for controlled security. The patent also provides various authentication methods. One such example relates to secure authentication code exchange with subsequent digital communications in one or more channels, human-readable information is used along machine-readable digital codes (e.g., quick response (QR) codes to verify visual codes and non-obtrusive visual codes that maintain a user’s access to a mobile device screen.
Due to the requirement of physical proximity between the electronic devices and acknowledgement, the portfolio’s time-varying sequential barcodes provides intrinsically secure real-time data communication. Smoother and more secure face-to-face social data exchange can also be facilitated by this technology.
It is expected that this technology will open up a new kind of business opportunity in the area of mobile applications and possibly social networking. Financial institutions may also be interested in this technology for the purpose of authentication and secure data communication. This technology also allows for digital information exchange across various media boundaries, security communication between electronic devices, and visual and tangible data control.
