The products use thyroid hormone receptor ligands to:

How the Technology Solves the Problem

Very recently it has been learned that a protein molecule receptor for thyroid hormone exists in significant quantity in human skin. The receptor is identified below by brown staining within the inside of cells in a skin sample in all areas of the skin.

The technology addresses the opportunity to pharmaceutically affect this receptor by using any natural or synthetic ligand which binds to the thyroid hormone receptor and produce products which counteract photodamage and skin aging by promoting collagen formation, promote increased skin thickness, activate wound healing and other genes in the skin, and activate fibroblasts without causing scar formation.

To enhance the care of skin, the thyroid hormone receptor binding ligands of the technology are topically applied to the skin. When applied to the skin, these ligands can also repair certain wounds and burns.

The efficacy and safety of this solution is demonstrated in Preclinical, Phase I and Phase II studies that are available as part of the offered portfolio. These studies have demonstrated no safety issues and no entry of the test molecules into the blood circulation in humans with intact skin. These studies have also demonstrated dramatic increases in collagen peptide in humans using a wound healing model, and fibroblast activation. No other pharmaceutical or cosmetic compound has ever been demonstrated to have this result.

Thyroid receptor binding ligands affect myriad biochemical pathways including those related to tumor surveillance and skin structure such as sonic hedgehog, wnt, frizzled, mapk, egfr related kinases, in addition to ctgf, collagen, tgf, and various skin related proteins. Topical treatment related to diseases related to these gene pathways is a possibility.
