Overview

Our partner, a Hungarian SME has developed a new kind of mattress which is able to replace the conventional seat- and bed mattresses and revolutionizes comfort foam-manufacturing. Our client is looking for partners interested in licensing or financial investment. The ideal licensee would be polyurethane foam manufacturer.

Background information

Until this time adjusting mechanical properties (consistency, stretch, hardness) of a pre-manufactured mattress was almost impossibble. To address this need and further improve comfort of sitting a technology evolved and opened up new horizons in mattress manufacturing. Conventional technologies can merely operate with the combination of filling materials, application of springs or fluids (water beds, air mattresses). These all have disadvantages needed to be met (inhomogeneity of hardness, need for external energy supply, high energy consumption, expensive operation, big space occupation).

Innovation of the technology

The hardness of EFC mattress can be easly controlled in accordance of the weight-load. The required pressure can be set with the terminal-valve (which is placed on the bottom of the mattress). Charging the mattress with weight, makes it to be compressed to the extent set beforehand. Discharging makes it to return to its original shape, without external energy needs. This is achieved by a special bidirectional valve.

The loading capacity of the mattress is divided between two components:

- The foam itself (like in conventional mattrasses).
- And the air compartment (this surrounds the foam, and thanked to the airthight sealing, it also carries burden).

This user-set, double distribution of load capacity provides the EFC mattress competitive advantage
