Procedure for Complex Utilisation of Industrial Sludge Originated in the Vegetable Oil Industry    

A new procedure for complex utilization of industrial sludge from sunflower or rapeseed oil production.

Overview

The offered technology is used for creating compost products for plant nutrition or animal feeding or bedding products in cattle feedlots from sunflower or rapeseed oil industrial sludge. The offered technology can be used by edible oil factories. It ensures complex agricultural use of industrial oily sludge.

The technology is based on the complex utilization of by-products from industrial sludge: floated, winter sludge, oily mucilage as compost for plant nutrition or animal feeding, bedding in cattle feedlots depending on the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics.
These wastes contain oil in amounts of 35 to 40 % of total mass; the vegetable fats can be easily degraded through physicochemical or biological treatment, which results in short-chain fatty acid production. The sunflower seed oil contains linoleic acid (45 to 60 %), oleic acid (30 to 35 %). The whole composting process is not longer than 70 to 90 days.
