Patent for License:

Technique to Obtain Immunological Tolerance

Using fetal T lymphocyte mediated DNA transferred into thymus, to a foreign DNA such as a viral vector-derived component.

Overview

A technique for sustaining a gene therapeutic result whereby a rejection raised in gene therapy to a foreign DNA can be avoided. The vector carrying a foreign gene useful for gene disease therapy or its expression product is recognized as "self and not as a "non-self. Using this technique a negative response to foreign DNA or its expression product can be avoided and gene therapeutic effect can be continued for a long time in a stabilized condition.

Animals that have acquired immunological tolerance to a foreign DNA are extremely significant for research and development of gene therapy.

Primary Application of the Technology

Medical, gene therapy
