The technology relates to thin-film type OLED devices which use specific red-emitting materials (salicylaldiminato Schiff bases or their metal complexes based on diaminomaleonitrile and salicylaldehyde derivatives) in the luminescent layer exhibit good color purity, high efficiency and good stability.

The invented thin-film type OLED using the specific red light emitting materials exhibits excellent color chromaticity co-ordinates and purity, good efficiency and high stability.

The technology could be used to produce OLED devices for flat panel display applications.
